goodbye gary
gary gygax passed away on tuesday. being relatively new all things d&d i’m sure there are others who feel a greater loss than i do, but i still feel sad anytime someone with so much creativity and passion leaves the world.
there is a great article in the sfgate today eulogizing mr. gygax.
i love the last paragraph and having lost my mom, who was only 65, last year it made me tear up a little:
Gygax was 69 when he died – a pretty good roll when you’re trying to hit a troll with a two-handed sword, but much too young to leave the real world behind. As for the fantasy worlds he created, they have expanded, flourished and become a part of everyday life. And they’re all a tribute to the original dungeon master.
